Painting, Acrylic on Canvas- 20x16

My inspiration for this piece comes from The Shining, a film that has always fascinated me with its eerie atmosphere and psychological horror. The twin sisters, frozen in time, have become an iconic symbol of the uncanny—both innocent and terrifying at once. I wanted to reimagine them in my own style, emphasizing what draws me most to portraiture: the eyes.

Eyes are the soul’s storytellers, and in this piece, they hold the weight of unspoken fears and lingering presences. Their gaze is hypnotic, almost demanding an emotional response from the viewer. I played with color and texture to enhance this effect, creating an atmosphere that feels both dreamlike and unsettling.

Through layered brushstrokes and contrasting tones, I aimed to capture the eerie stillness of the twins while adding a more surreal, almost ghostly quality. My goal was to make the viewer feel watched—just as Danny does in the film—immersed in a quiet, yet overwhelming tension.

This painting is my way of exploring psychological horror through expressive realism, using the eyes as a focal point to bridge the gap between fear and fascination.
